This is a 1/24 scale kit of a GTA. It comes molded in high gloss black and includes both clear and plated parts, vinyl VR50 Goodyear tires, simulated alloy wheels, and a 210hp 5.7L V-8. In my opinion this is the best kit out there for the GTA owners. It features good detail and all the features you'd expect a GTA to have. Copyright date on the kit is 1987.

This is a 1/25 scale kit of a GTA. It can be built one of two ways, stock or custom. I have bought and built one of these kits and it was a really good kit. It features a fuel injected 5.0L V-8, optional twin turbo-chargers, a detailed interior, and optional wide street tires on custom wheels. Other optional items include a custom hood, removable T-Tops, and it even features posable front wheels. Copyright date on the kit is 1987.

Revell Kit# 7470
87gtamd12.jpg (36910 bytes) This is a large scale 1/16 kit of a Trans Am GTA. Its the coup de gras for GTA owners. Its truly an incredible kit with a lot of features and detail including opening hood and doors, a fuel injected 5.7L V-8, steerable wheels, aluminum-finish (simulated) alloy wheels, Goodyear GatorBack Radial tires, and dual exhaust. The body is molded in black and you do get a set of decals but they only include an Illinois "GTA" license plate and a gold colored plate that reads "Pontiac", presumably for the front of the car. You also get the letters "Pontiac" that are sized for the windsheild and are gold in color. Chrome is extensive as you'd expect for a larger kit and includes, crosslace wheels, valve covers, intake manifold, intake runners, alternator, various other engine parts, rear view mirror and a small chrome insert for both of the side view mirrors. Tires are real rubber and say Goodyear Eagle VR 50. They are 245/50YR15s. A truly excellent kit for the builder or the collector these kits are now very hard to find in any kind of unbuilt/complete condition. Copyright date is 1987.

This is a 1/25 scale kit of a 1989 GTA. On the boxtop its called a Firebird GTA but it also shows the gold badging associated with the 20th anniversary TA. The kit is shown built with and includes the Knotchback rear decklid versus the standard decklid. It can also be seen on the lower side shot. This was an option offered on the real thing by Pontiac but wasn't a very popular one. If you want to build an '89 GTA with a knotchback decklid this is the kit for you. The kit doesn't come with a normal rear decklid. Other features include a 225hp 5.0L V-8 with Tuned Port Injection (TPI), dual turbo-chargers, a 5-speed manual, Goodyear Gatorback VR50 tires, and crosslace GTA wheels. The kit can be built either stock or custom as seen on the side shot. Custom options include a custom hood and side-pipes. This is a really great kit and is very popular. Copyright date on the kit is 1988.

This is a 1/25 scale kit of the 20th Anniversary Trans Am. It is misidentified as a Turbo Firebird GTA. The 20th TTA was coded as a GTA and had all the same equipment and options but identified as a Turbo Trans Am. The mis-identification was more likely to avoid any problems with using the name "Trans Am" than due to any lack of knowledge on the part of the box top designer. Kit features include a 250hp 3.8L 231c.i. turbo-charged V-6, 4-speed automatic tranny, removable see-through T-Tops, and Goodyear Eagle 50ZR16 tires on cross-lace wheels. The kit also features a great set of decals that include the Pace Car badging that was available on the real car. This car was a real phenomenon when it was released. It paced the race in stock form (the first Pontiac ever to do so) and was the fastest car on the street with a V-6. This is a very popular kit. Copyright date on the kit is 1989.

This is the only kit on the site so far that you'll see me recommend you not buy. I purchased one of these kits several years ago only to find out halfway through the build that it was impossible to completely build the kit. I can't remember what the problem was specifically but I believe it was a defect in the mold. Either way it was impossible to complete the kit and I threw it away. It was frustrating because you are about 50% finished with it when you realize the defect.
Update: I have had at least one report that this kit was re-released and that it built-up just fine.

This is the same kit as above with a slightly different boxtop. Its possible this was a later release to fix the problem I experienced with the earlier kit. If anyone can verify this please send me an e-mail.

This is a 1/25 scale kit of a 1991 GTA that can be built one of two ways, a stock version or a street version. Kit comes molded in white despite the color of the car on the boxtop. Features include a 5.7L V-8 engine with Tuned Port Injection (TPI), optional dual turbo-chargers, a 4-speed automatic, Goodyear ZR Gatorbacks on crosslace wheels, and custom side pipes. The decal set is small and includes some custom striping for the street version, two Alabama license plates and some informational decals like the emissions decal that goes on the radiator support. Chrome includes the crosslace rims and a host of engine parts. Copyright date on the kit is 1990.
