Coupe –Colors known to exist: Goldenrod Yellow, Carousel Red and Athena Blue. This was the last year for the Formula promotional model. With the exception of new front and rear bumper styling these kits was identical to the 1975 kit. The motor designation was no longer on the side of the front fender. It now just said "Formula". Box art was again colorful and showed a yellow Formula with the Formula Appearance Package. The sides of the box had different pictures of the car and its features. These illustrations were featured in the 1976 dealer sales brochure. Value for a factory sealed unbuilt kit is in the $50.00 range.

77 Trans Am (74702 bytes)

77 Trans Am (47591 bytes)

77 Trans Am (31423 bytes)
This is an MPC kit of the 1977 Special Edition Trans Am. It is 1/25 scale and dated 1976. The kit is molded in black. The usual compliment of chrome pieces are not included in this kit, instead all the pieces that are usually chrome are gold as they were on the actual Special Edition T/As. The decal set is extensive and detailed. All decals are in gold and include the complete body striping, the "Trans Am" badges, the 6.6 Liter decals for the shaker scoop and the hood bird and sail panel birds. The T-Tops have been pre-cut out of the body which is very nice if you like the "Tops-Off" look and no tops are provided. Interestingly the body provided with this kit has the front end already attached. The fender spoilers, however, are not attached and must be glued on. Overall this is an outstanding kit. Probably one of the better of versions of the "Bandit" Trans Am.

77 Trans Am (32167 bytes)
This is a 1/25 scale MPC kit of a 1977 Trans Am. The blue is a nice change from the blacks and reds you usually find this year kit molded in. Interestingly the front of the box states "CB radio gear included". Kind of a sign of the times for those days. Everybody had a CB. No further information is available at this time...

This is a dealer promo offered in 1977 to buyers that bought a new Trans Am at the dealership. From 1975 to 1981 promos were offered as unbuilt kits. This kit is the Sterling Silver version. The following is from the Promo section of the site:

Trans Am Coupe –Colors known to exist: Sterling Silver and Cameo White. This was the first year for the Trans Am promotional model. It included all the Trans Am spoilers, air extractors and shaker hood. A set of decals were also included with the kit and featured; nose, fender, rear spoiler "Trans Am" decals and the hood bird. The decals were printed in gray, red and black. The only inaccuracy on the decal sheet was the "400" shaker scoop decal. Beginning in 1977 Pontiac used Liters to identify engine displacement. So it should have read either 6.6 Liter for the standard motor or T/A 6.6 for the optional motor. This kit also included a set of Rally II wheels, chrome left and right grills, standard Firebird interior with an automatic shifter. There was no change with the tires style and chassis detail. The cover of the box illustrated a Black and Gold Special Edition Trans Am and the sides showed the different features. Value for a factory sealed unbuilt kit is in the $35.00 range.

This is a 1/25 scale AMT/ERTL kit of the '77 - '78 Special Edition Trans Am. The kit is dated 1997. This is a brand new kit just released recently. The one I have is still sealed in the original plastic so I can't provide any info on the internals. The photo on the box is of an actual model, unlike most kits that claim to have an actual model on the box but it looks more like  a real car you can tell this one is a built kit. It appears the T-Tops are pre-cut and Special Edition decals are included. No further description is available at this time...
