This 1983 Trans Am belongs to Ross
Meyers of Templestowe, Australia. The car was purchased in 1983 already converted to right
hand drive from another Australian for $19,000 Australian (about $15,000 US). The previous
owner had swapped the 305 for a 350 but kept the original cross-fire injection setup. He'd
also added a new cam that proved to be to much for the car and caused it to barely idle
during cold weather. Needless to say it didn't take long before Ross got tired of the car
stalling so a new cam was selected and provided by a local cam company (Crow Cams). During
the installation of the new cam he found out the heads had some cracks so new ones were
bought and installed. A new Hypertech chip, a rear wing, stiffer suspension bushings, and
host of new stereo equipment were also added. Ross has posted a best time of 15.47 @
88mph. E-mail: Ross Myers |

This entry marks the second time a Firebird has been located in two
different lots. This particular Trans Am is one of those rare TAs from '79
to '81 that was converted into a convertible by National Coach Engineering
in Michigan, thus you will also see this Firebird in the National Coach
Lots. This Trans Am is owned by Svein Arne Holmedal. Svein writes: "Hello again! The car came to Norway in '81 - '82, then it was blue. I have painted it red and changed the color inside from white to red and black. The car has been restored outside as you can see. It was original when it came to Norway. Specifications of the Trans Am: Year Model: 1979 Trans Am Engine: 403, w/ Holley 600cfm carb Gear: TH350/ safe-T-Trac rear Wheels: 295/265-15 The car was converted to a
convertible at National Coach Engineering of Michigan. I have seen someplace
there was made about 200 convertibles built in 1979. If there is somebody
that can tell me more about the car, they can write to me at:

Yves Beaupre' owns this red convertible 1977 Trans Am. Yves writes: "Hi, my name is Yves Beaupré, from Cantley Québec, Canada. My Trans Am '77 convertible has a 454ci engine with a 4 barrel carb under the hood, with 500 hp. The car has a black interior and a black convertible top. I started the frame-off restoration. Slowly but surely, I began to search for the broken and/or missing parts for the car. Best of all I meet people with common interests and made friends along the way. It's been a long two years but it was worth it! The only person happier than me that the car is finished is my local gas station owner! Happy motoring! I didn't just buy a car, I bought a dream." Recently, Yves sent me some updated pics of his Trans Am showing off a new set of rims. |
