Hakan Ekback from Sweden owns this 1987 GTA. Hakan writes:

"My name is Hakan Ekback and I live in Sweden. When I was "young", in the early 80's, I owned a 1975 Firebird, a 1975 Trans Am, and a 1977 Y82 S.E. In 2005 I was looking around for a 77 to 81 T/A and I came across this 1987 GTA, gunmetal and T-tops and I was sold. Some options and facts:
  • 1987 Firebird Trans Am GTA
  • Y84 GTA Package
  • L98 350 TPI 5.7L
  • TH700R4
  • W61 GTA Option Group #1
  • Grey cloth deluxe interior
  • Car and Concepts (C&C) T-tops installed in 1989
  • Sold new by Highland Park Motors, IL
  • Came to Sweden in 1990
  • 80k miles

The plan is to drive it during the short Swedish summers. It needs nothing and is in very good order for it's age. I will slowly bring it back to better than showroom condition and upgrade to W63 GTA Option Group #2. I am a member of TACS, Trans Am Club Of Sweden."

Best regards
Hakan Ekback

Patrick and Tanya Knickle, hailing from Wilmot, Nova Scotia, Canada, own this 1970 Firebird as well as the birds in the next two entries, a 1980 Trans Am and a 1985 Trans Am. Patrick writes:

"My project and probably of these cars my favorite we've only had for a couple of years. It was a mess when we got it, interior was wrecked, under the hood was a nightmare, but the body was nice and I have been trying to get this car for 15 years. Its a 1970 Firebird, base model Esprit, originally had a six in it, but the last owner swapped it for a small block (poorly). I swapped that out for a 400 Pontiac, full 3" exhaust, headers, 3100 B&M Converter, race prepped trans, sub-frame connectors, gauges install in console, new interior, etc... it works very good."

The second Firebird in the Knickle family stable:

"My 1980 trans am (black with red interior), its a four wheel disc car with 125k kilometers on it. I've had it for 12 or so years, the original 301 was pulled in favor of a built YS 400, and 350 turbo trans."

The third bird in the Knickle family.

"Next up is my wife Tanya's 1985 SE TA, its a 5.0 litre high output, in good shape, mostly original with out any mods. It gets driven daily and has 218,000km on it. The blue is not an original color, but of an '85 Monte Carlo SS, we think it looks better than the original red. We completely gutted the car and went through it from front to back and replaced almost everything to bring it back to good."

Carlos Uriarte owns this red 1991 Firebird. Carlos writes:

"This is my firebird, it has a 3.1 V6 which is more than enough, it is in very good condition. I've just recently got it for $1700. I love this car and as soon as I made some upgrades I'll put more pics. I live in Tijuana, Mexico."

Stefan Bresler owns this 1981 Trans Am. Stefan writes:

"Hello, first of all I'm sorry for my bad English - it's not my native language. I'd like to send you some images and few information about my 1981 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am:

This car was built as an export-model in 1981 and was shipped to Belgium (and then further on to Germany) on 05-06-81. The first owner was a lady from Munich. I bought the car in June 2005 as the third owner. Unfortunately the second owner had a little trouble with the original 4.9 liter turbo-engine. So he gave the car to a speed shop where the turbo-engine was removed and a 400cui V8 from a 1973 T/A was put in. Although I'd prefer the original engine, I love that 6.6 liter for it's great power and low repair costs. When I got the car in 2005 it looked real used but with lots of nights polishing the coating the original Dark Brown Metallic paint became real shiny again. The interior (camel tan cloth) is in real good condition, so I did not have to do much with it. Not so with the wheels, these were in real bad shape, so I restored them in winter 2005 / 2006.
At the same time I coated the US spec rear spoiler, the car was originally fitted with the European-spoiler (very low shape and made of soft rubber... real bad look!). For being an export-version the car was not only fitted with that ugly rear-spoiler, there are few other differences from the US-model. For Europe the car got different headlights and tailights (with yellow indicator-lights), tires, and of course a kilometers-per-hour-speedometer. The mileage is of course also given in kilometers - there are less than 87,000 km on the clock (= about 54,000 miles).
I use the car for driving to car, shows in Bavaria and Austria, and sometimes I just enjoy driving around the beautiful Bavarian countryside around Bad Tölz (some may know this town and it's former Flint Barracks) with the T-Tops stored in the trunk and the old V8 roaring under the hood with its original bird on it... but whom I have to tell, that this is the best side of life?! For more pictures and details about the car just click on www.auto-suechtig.de ("auto-suechtig" means "crazy for cars" in German). I hope you like the images I send you with that e-mail. I would be glad to see my bird on your great gallery!"

Greetings from Bavaria,
Stefan

Manoah Van Der Wolf owns this silver 1971 Firebird. Manoah writes:

"My name is Manoah van der Wolf, I'm 22 and I'm from Holland. This is My 1971 Pontiac Firebird Esprit originally equipped with a 2bbl 350-V8 with single exhaust, in Valencia Gold with white vinyl roof and standard rims with white 'walls' and chrome dogdishes. By the time the last owner had it it was all rusted and a 'wreck'. I bought this car 1,5 year ago from California, unfortunately the engine broke down completely after just a month. I've ordered a brand new top-notch 1972 pontiac 400 4bbl v8 from Central Virginia Machine Services, made by Mr.P-body Jim Lehart himself, it's a top notch engine which provides almost 400 HP. It's currently equipped with a TH-350 3-Speed automatic, but will get replaced in the future with a Borgwarner 6-speed manual. I have a formula hood which will get on next week and next up it'll get a new paintjob, in Ducati-Red or Candy Apple Red. It's running on 15' Cragar SS Classics. Its got a FLOWMASTER AMERICAN THUNDER dual exhaust system from front to back, sounds awesome...."

Greetings from The Netherlands,
Manoah van der Wolf
